(I think the tightest International connection I've ever made was 20 minutes at Vienna. Heathrow is one of those annoying airports that insists transit passengers go through security screening again, but even then - 3 hours is more than enough time. You check in and receive boarding passes for both flights before you depart), you don't need to go through UK immigration - at Heathrow follow the "flight connections" signs and NOT "uk border/baggage reclaim". just looking for some reassurance to make sure i did all this right, this is my first time travelling. will i go through immigration or customs at either airport? i've also read that 3 hours is a good amount of time for an international layover. as far as i've read i don't need a visa because i'm going from the US to the EU. Secondly, what should i expect at the airport? i fly domestically sometimes for work but i've never flown internationally. like others on this sub i was a little optimistic about my timetable and have stuff planned for the day following my arrival. should i just stay up and count on sleeping through most of the flight (i'm flying economy with my girlfriend beside me), or should i sleep before the flight? i'm banking on arriving in bruges around 6pm and resetting my circadian rhythm by overdrinking, lol, which usually works for me. and then i board again at 2pm and land at my destination in brussels at 4pm (flight time 1h15). I have a flight leaving philly at 11pm and arriving at london heathrow at 11am local time (flight duration about 7 hours).
